An integral part of the world historical process is immigration which plays an important role in sociocultural transformation of modern states. Thanks to them civilized space is becoming dispersive and diversity of population is increasing, so the problem of integration into a new life, a new culture, a new civilization is becoming rather difficult. The reception of immigrants from China in the United States was hostile almost from the start. Even before their arrival many white Americans held pejorative ideas about newcomers. White Americans treated them with contempt and, moreover, their racial differences separated them from each other. As a result, the Chinese faced racist laws and actions and were excluded from American life, becoming forgotten citizens.

Since , immigration law changes have led to a dramatic increase in the Asian population in the United States. Taiwanese Americans, the immigrants from Taiwan and their descendants, are a prominent group in this increasing Asian population.
